What Stone is Purpurite?
Purpurite is a mineral, manganese phosphate, MnPO4 with varying amounts of iron depending upon its source. It occurs in color ranges from brownish black via purple and violet to dark red. Purpurite forms a series with the iron-bearing endmember heterosite, FePO4.

Are tumbled stones worth anything?
The market for spectacular tumbled stones is very small. They are sold as “collector’s pieces” or as rough to people who will cut them into cabochons. We do not believe that premium tumbled stones are an investment opportunity. Their intrinsic value is very low and they are very difficult to sell at a premium price.
