I’m guessing it’s because all the audio files on mixcloud are .m4a files and winamp doesn’t seem to be able to play those… How do I get this to work? Note, the new in_mp4 still doesn’t support mpeg4 video or proprietary Apple lossless audio (alac), though neither does the 3rd-party plugin.

AAC compatibility of Winamp is limited. Try with a good faad plug-in : Just to add to the answer that winamp 5 just doesn’t support the mp4 container, only the .aac bitstream, so not even renaming it to .aac would made it work. It is unclear if they’re going to support .mp4 out of the box.
