Sandy Denny died on 21 April 1978. Afterwards Denny suffered from intense headaches; a doctor prescribed her the painkiller Distalgesic, a drug known to have fatal side effects when mixed with alcohol. She died no hero. Her substance abuse had worsened and during her pregnancy she had drunk and taken cocaine.
